We're back!

We had to take a break from updates for a while because Mr. F didn't have time to help us record songs and create content that we could share. We've been working on our singing and note review and we're still trying to find a good way to show our blog readers how well we can read notes!

We did add a new song under the iPod player. We recorded it today. Mr. F says a lot of people don't know all the words to their own National Anthem and it's very important to learn the whole song. We're even going to learn the second verse soon!

Well, class is almost over for us. Rock on!

Sincerely,
The Third and Fourth Grade Rowyd Rockers

Hello from the first grade! We are having an awesome day! It's sunny outside.
We recorded a traditional Hebrew song in class today called Svivon. We know it's not the time of year for Hanukkah, but we like to sing this song because it is fun and we know the sign language and music very well. While we sing this song we're practicing three languages at once! English, Hebrew and American Sign Language! It was very difficult at first, but we know it very well now.

Enjoy!

Sincerely,
The First Grade Rowdy Rockers

Hello from the 8th grade Rockers. We did some music composition last week but Mr. F didn't have time to put it up since we had busy days and a festival on Friday. Here are our original compositions - you will see the sheet music and hear the midi file SOON. I haven't figured it out yet. Remember, WE wrote these! They're completely original Rocker work. We used Finale Notepad 2008.

Lakes Region Junior High Music Festival

Last Friday, our school sent some students to the Lakes Region Junior High Music Festival. It was an all-day music festival where hundreds of very talented students gathered to rehearse four pieces for each band and chorus. They performed the pieces for friends, family and community members in the evening. It went really well!

You'll notice our music playlist was changed - NOW, it has rehearsal recordings from the Lakes Region Junior High Music Festival. Remember - this was not only our school, this was a very large group of students from many different schools. We only deserve a small part of the credit!

I'd like to list names of conductors, directors and other teachers that helped organize, but I haven't asked them for permission and it would be wrong to do so otherwise.

Lastly, remember that these are rehearsal recordings. That means that these were taken early in the day before the concert. Since these recordings, band and chorus both improved even further! If you think they sound good NOW in rehearsal and recorded on an iphone, just wait until we get our professionally recorded CDs of their concert in the mail! Those tracks will be unavailable for download, but you will be able to listen to them here.

If you'd like to download these songs, feel free! They were recorded by me. Follow the link below to the download page.

Enjoy the music!!!!

"Baaaaaaaahhh"
"Hiiii."
"Waaaazzuuuuuup?"

The above greetings were dictated to Mr. F by the 5th and 6th graders.
We worked on their glogs today. We are writing about modern bands in an educational way. We are trying to not make our glogs seem like a fan page or a myspace page, but instead an educational, information gathering activity/posterboard. As soon as the 5th and 6th grade Rockers finish their glogs (which may be next Wednesday!) they will be posted up here!

We've missed posting for our viewers!

Hi hi. This is the Rowdy Rockers. How are you doing today? What up dawg?
We were wondering what time it is where our viewers live. Here, it's 10:37am right now on Wednesday.

Today, three of our classmates told us about time differences. We discussed the time differences in different parts of the world, and how it might affect when our viewers look at our blog.

We have decided to record some of our songs to put up on our blog. You'll see them here soon!

We're back!

We're back in school after a nice, long break. We got some more snow, too.

We don't have much content to update with because most of us went on a field trip Monday, and some of us are attending a rehearsal for a music festival tomorrow. Those are our two music days, Monday and Wednesday. Perhaps we'll have more to share tomorrow afternoon.

In the mean time, keep it rocking!

Sincerely,
Mr. F and the Rowdy Rockers

Break time!

It's time for our February break, so you won't hear from us next week! Time for a week full of skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling. We'll be back in March! Thanks for viewing, you'll hear from us soon!

Sincerely,
The Rowdy Rockers

P.S.
We hope you like the audio samples we just included on our site. We can't figure out how to get the player off of auto-play, but oh well. You'll hear examples of our music classes, our band and our chorus warmups.

hello from the rowdy rockers of third and fourth grade. welcome to our blog! Mr. F. is our teacher. We have quite a few songs we know.

(above was written by our 3rd and 4th graders, text below is by Mr. F)

Today in 3rd and 4th grade music, we started by looking over our blog and thinking of things to add or remove. We like our blog so far!
Then we began to study major scale construction using phrases like whole steps and half steps. It's very difficult and advanced for our grade level but we're learning steadily! We didn't sing today but usually we do a lot of singing. Soon you will be able to hear songs right on our blog.

Greetings from 7th and 8th grade!

Finally, some snow!!!

Hello, we ARE the Rowdy Rockers... well, some of them from the 7th and 8th graders. We all attend a school in the White Mountains. In chorus, we're singing "ABC" by Michael Jackson, and an African piece called "Watu Wote". In band we've been sightreading many new songs, one of them titled "Westwind Overature". In music class, obviously if you've visited before, you've seen our glogs, we haven't done many of those lately, because we're working on building major scales on http://www.theviolincase.com/Scale/index.shtml. Also, we're composing pieces for our spring concert on Finale Notepad. Some samples are coming soon!

Here's what we worked on today.

Sincerely,
The Rowdy Rockettes

(Mr. F's note: this post was written by most of the girls in our 7th and 8th grade classes, but all students helped with wording and ideas.)
